Wingate High School
New School Project
Wingate High School is in the planning and design phase of a new school. All the buildings on the existing 40+ year old campus are to be completely replaced with new structures. This includes all the dormitories, academic classrooms and offices, gymnasium, and related facilites. When the project is done, the only currently existing faciltiy that will remain is the football field.
In December of 2004 and January 2005, the staff and administration of Wingate met with designers from Garver + Garver and architects from Cromwell Architects, both of Little Rock, AR, to contribute input that led to the inital design concept for the new school. Shortly following that, a design was proposed for the the new school.
In late 2005 and into early 2006, it was realized that some signifcant changes needed to be made due to increased construction costs. The challenge became providing all the necessary spaces and square footage while staying within the allocated budget. The solution was to construct both the Residential and the Academic buildings as two story buildings. The new drawings and campus map are shown below.
The images below represent the designers concept of what that new school may well look like.
